GC40 Geocache

23 07 2013

Earlier this year I booked a couple of flights to Europe, one to Berlin and one to Brussels, so that I could find the final two missing months in my Jasmer challenge only to find that the cache in Germany had been archived just days before. See post First Germany. It will be interesting to see how I find a solution to the final month.

There is a heat wave in Europe so even though the arrival at Zaventum airport in Brussels was in the evening it was still far warmer than the weather we left in Sweden. All we did in the evening was take the shuttle to the hotel and ate before calling it a day. Tuesday started with a quick shuttle bus ride back to the airport so we could collect our rental car.

From the airport we found our way out on to the motorway E411/A4 heading south east towards Luxembourg. The holiday traffic was pretty much as expected. Heavy and fast. In less than an hour we reached Namur which I remember well from a trip I made as a student way back in the seventies. It looked pretty much the same now.

From there we continued on south to Dinant and the forest just west of Gedinne where Geocache is located.

It didn’t take long to find the cache and just as I had replaced it Team B from the Netherlands arrived. We had a short chat then left only to bump into them again at Un point de vue.

From there we collected a couple more caches and passed by a few small villages where there were many floral arrangements.

It didn’t take long before we arrived in the small town of Rochefort where we rewarded ourselves with the first taste of Belgium beer. What could be better on a day that was 30C in the shade?

After the beer we walked round the corner to the earthcache Caves : “NOU MAULIN”
