Urban caching in central Brussels

26 07 2013

We left Revin, a small town near to the border with Belgium, after a good breakfast and found a couple more caches close by before driving north towards Brussels. We stopped in a small village in France to fill up with petrol and buy lunch. Again it was a really hot day so we were pleased to find a huge chestnut tree close to Roly where we could sit and eat our lunch.
We had found a couple of caches here and got a DNF at Circuit des chapelles et potales # 164 It didn’t matter as the place itself was worth the stop.

Once we were done with that we drove directly to Zaventum airport where we returned the car and took the train into the centre of Brussels. Our hotel was 200 m from the station and less than that distance to the Grand Place.

We ate a reasonable meal at one of the restaurants in the square so that we could do some tourist gazing. As it was so hot, again well over 27C in the evening we walked around the central area stopping a couple of times to quench our thirst with the excellent Belgium beer.

The day after was dedicated to urban caching in the centre of Brussels. The day started with a thunderstorm and rain but it passed quickly and the hot humid air took over. We found the following six caches and took a lot of photos.

Chapelle de la Madeleine
La Lunette de Mémé 100.000 volt, Revival
Jeanneke Pis (TB-GC Hotel)
Expo58 – The Whirling Ear STEALTH
CINEMATEK
Bee-sy bee-lding (ex Niagara Falls in Brussels)

I enjoyed the wall paintings of both well known and completely unkown characters. Judge for yourselves.
