Las Vegas

3 09 2013

We stayed at the pyramid shaped hotel at the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard called Luxor. Entering the hotel from the car park at the rear was quite an experience. An ocean of blinking and jingling slot machines had to be crossed to get to reception.

Nope, I didn't win the jackpot on these machines but it would have been great!

Just about all of them were being fed dollar after dollar by hoards of expectant gamblers. Just about sensory overload.

The main reason for being in Las Vegas was not for hunting caches but to give Lisbeth a chance to do some shopping as our itinerary didn’t allow us more than a day in Las Vegas and a day in San Francisco for such activities. The rest of the journey would be spent “On the road”.

Of course, I have to include a couple of photos from the “vulgar, larger than life”, city of Las Vegas, although actually after we had also sampled parts of San Francisco and Los Angeles we thought that Las Vegas wasn’t that bad!

I’m sorry about the quality of the photos – the day time ones were taken through the windscreen of our rental car and the night scenes were taken with a handheld compact camera. I knew I should have taken my D90 out with me for the night shots.

From a geocaching point of view, we limited our efforts to just one traditional cache and a couple of virtuals. The traditional cache we found was A Special Memory which we chose as it had most favourite points for the cache in Las Vegas. Let the photos speak for themselves.
